The Upcycling Art Prize upc – [aps]
is intended to promote creative individual projects that deal with existing material. Since modern times, art has been processing obvious everyday things to bridge the gap between life and art, insert layers of readability into the works, create context, or celebrate patina and artefacts. In addition, there is a worldwide upcycling movement that combines resource-saving and circular processes with the ecological idea of using existing things longer and differently. With upc, we also create an open connecting platform for artists, designers and creative enthusiasts who use waste as material for art.
All those who deal with the topic artistically with high quality, convincing and continuous participation are entitled to participate. Each can apply till March 15th 2021 with up to 5 works, the submitted exhibits will be published anonymously in the online gallery. The „Publikumspreis“ (audience prize) is determined by a combination of online likes and the ballot papers cast on-site in the exhibition. Seven Nominees will be selected by the jury for the exhibition. Members of the jury are the director of the upcycling festival Drapart, founded in 1995 in Barcelona, Tanja Grass, the upcycling influencer Thomas Klotz and the journalist Cora Knoblauch. Five works of these jury nominees will be exhibited at the ZZK from 23 May and from June 8th 2021 – May 2022 in Berlin. The winning exhibit will be invited to the Drapart Festival in Barcelona.
The application can only be made digitally under www.zirkulaere-kunst.de. The online gallery records the registered submissions with captions, no names are allowed there.
This is an OPEN CALL, the place of residence is not decisive, but the travel and transport costs for the exhibitions are limited. The prize money of €2,000 is independent of the value of the artwork. The online gallery will remain open to voting for the Publikumspreis Audience Award. On April 10th there will be a jury decision on the 7 exhibitors who will be exhibit in Lübz on 20.05.2021 and presenting themselves to the press. On 23.05.2021 the exhibition opening is part of „Kunst offen“.

The following documents are required:
– short CV with link to the website at the account
– up to 5 works with one photo or video per work, only photos appear in the online gallery before the exhibition starts, 1 work per upload with „Titel“, no names are allowed there
and description – „Bildbeschreibung“, an anonymized statement on the submitted work as text
– Video works: – Film still with Play-Icon and link to the upload platform in the picture title
By submitting the application, the participants accept the terms of this invitation and allow us to publish the submitted images. Legal redress is excluded. Only contributions that clearly meet all the tender criteria and are submitted on time are taken into account. The selection process takes place in several stages.
Insurance
We would like to point out that the works are not separately insured during the exhibition at the ZZK. The building has closing times and access is controlled.
Transport
For each nominated participant or team a maximum of 150 € per person is available for delivery and arrival for the exhibition at the ZZK. This amount cannot be exceeded.
